Hair Transplant Guide · Updated 24 October 2026
Why long-term planning includes the non-transplanted hair as well as the recipient area.
Transplanted and existing hair
A transplant moves follicles from selected donor areas. Existing natural hair can continue to be affected by the underlying hair loss process. Later thinning therefore cannot be explained by transplanted grafts alone; baseline photographs and follow-up findings matter.
Does everyone need medication?
No single treatment is necessary or suitable for everyone. Options such as minoxidil or finasteride are assessed according to diagnosis, age, health history, potential side effects and preferences. Topical and oral products do not have identical safety profiles. This article does not recommend starting a medicine or a dose.
Starting or restarting products
Timing follows your personal aftercare plan. Do not stop or change prescribed treatment based on an online calendar. Discuss irritation, itching or other symptoms and the product you are using with your doctor.
Supportive treatments and follow-up
The cause of loss and individual need are assessed before additional treatments or supplements. No care product has the same effect in every patient. Share product names, doses, duration, new symptoms and dated photographs so overall appearance can be followed long term.
