DHI HAIR TRANSPLANT

The DHI CHOI Pen Technique is a hair transplant method developed because other techniques in the historical development of hair transplantation did not sufficiently meet expectations, and it is widely used today. DHI, that is Direct Hair Implantation, takes its name from the initials of direct hair implantation.

DHI is a method in which, after it has been decided that the patient is suitable for a hair transplant, the follicles taken from the donor area with manual punches or micromotors are implanted directly using special pens in the patient who has received local anesthesia. In the DHI Pen Technique, pen-like devices are used. The diameters of the needles at the tips of the pens vary according to the characteristics of the donor area hair, whether it is fine or thick. Pens are available in various sizes from 0.6 to 1.1 diameter.

The maximum number of follicles (grafts) transplanted in a single session in the DHI Pen Technique depends on the expertise and experience of the team. When the DHI Pen Technique first appeared, a maximum of 2,000 grafts could be transplanted in a single session. Today, with the development of technology, it has become possible to transplant a greater number of grafts. In the "modified" DHI Technique developed by Dr. Kinyas, your hair transplant is performed by a team of five: one doctor on the right, one doctor on the left, and at least three healthcare assistants who prepare the pens. Thus it has become possible to transplant up to 6,000 grafts in a single session. In the DHI Pen Technique, a transplant with the maximum number of follicles in one session takes about six hours. Because the time the follicles wait outside is shortened, their chance of survival increases. The shortened transplant time ensures that the transplant is done before the local anesthesia wears off. Therefore, the patient's hair transplant procedure takes place painlessly and comfortably.

The DHI CHOI Pen Technique can be applied to patients of any age with any kind of hair loss complaint.

Who is the DHI CHOI Pen Technique suitable for?

With the DHI CHOI Pen Technique, it is possible to perform a hair transplant, shaved or unshaved, on patients of any age and either gender who have permanent hair loss or irreversible hair loss for any reason in wide or local areas.

What are the advantages of the DHI CHOI Method?

The DHI CHOI Pen Technique aims to eliminate the disadvantages of all previous techniques. Some advantages of the DHI Technique can be listed as: shortening the transplant time, preventing complications such as redness, numbness and necrosis that may occur in the transplant area, and precisely transplanting so-called "weak" follicles other than those of the nape donor area.

In the FUE and FUT hair transplant techniques, the extra time spent opening channels during the transplant process also lengthens the time the follicles wait outside, which lowers their survival rate. In the DHI Pen Technique, since there is no channel opening in the transplant process, the transplant time is shortened and the survival rate of the follicles rises.

Since the follicles are transplanted using pen implanters, it has become possible to give the transplanted follicles the desired angle and direction. Therefore hair growth is made natural. In this way patients can style their hair as they wish.

In the DHI CHOI Pen Technique, if there are sufficient grafts, there is the chance to transplant 80 to 100 follicles per 1 cm².

In the FUE and FUT techniques, excessive bleeding while opening channels may cause the patient to experience blood pressure imbalance after the operation. In the DHI Pen Technique, bleeding is much less.

In the FUE and FUT techniques, because tissue is cut while opening channels, free nerve endings are damaged and redness occurs in the tissue due to the incision. In the DHI Pen Technique, numbness and redness are seen at a much lower level.

For people with long hair, it has become possible to have denser hair with unshaved hair transplants.

Disadvantages of the DHI CHOI Pen Technique

Compared with the other existing hair transplant techniques, the disadvantages of the DHI CHOI technique are almost negligible. The main disadvantage is the low number of follicles per 1 cm² compared with normal human hair. Therefore there are physiological disadvantages concerning the nourishment of the follicles.
