BEARD AND MUSTACHE TRANSPLANT

With beard and mustache transplants, it is possible to fill in missing beard and mustache areas, increase the number of hairs and bring the beard and mustache to the desired shape. Beard and mustache transplantation is a treatment method that takes place because of aesthetic concerns, and it can also be chosen by patients because of hair loss resulting from events such as injury and burns.

Beard and mustache transplants are mostly performed using the FUE Technique (Follicular Unit Extraction). First, where the follicles (grafts) will be transplanted is determined. The nape area is usually chosen as the donor area in beard and mustache transplants. However, hairs can also be taken one by one from the cheekbones, other bearded areas of the face, or the neck area. The harvested grafts are transplanted in line with the natural growth direction of the beard and mustache. Since the extraction and transplantation of the hair follicles are performed without cutting the skin, there is no scar or pain.

When beard and mustache transplants are performed by a specialist doctor and team, it is a treatment method that does not take long to give results. The process patients go through after a beard and mustache transplant can be summarized as follows: within a few weeks after the transplant, all the transplanted beard and mustache hairs shed, and from the fourth month onwards the transplanted beard and mustache begin to grow. In the sixth month after the beard and mustache transplant operation, patients will begin to get clear results.

What to Pay Attention to After a Beard and Mustache Transplant

A patient who has had a beard and mustache transplant should not wear clothing that causes friction on the day after the operation and should not sleep face down. On the first day the patient must sleep on their back.

No bandage should be applied to the beard and mustache area after the operation. The reason is that the transplanted hairs may stick to the bandage and come out.

A patient who has had a beard and mustache transplant should not wash their face for the first 48 to 72 hours. They should clean their face with the cleaning set given by their doctor to guard against infection. At the first face wash, the face should be washed not by rubbing but with slow, gentle, stroking hand movements.

The first shave after a beard and mustache transplant is recommended on the 12th day after the transplant. On the 12th day after the operation, the patient can shave their beard and mustache with either a razor or a clipper.
